Mathias Kunzler

I’m a freelancing illustrator and comic artist with a passion for all things fantastic, from ancient mythology to modern sword and sorcery. With a background in Art History and Archaeology, I also enjoy doing reconstruction drawings and working in styles like medieval illumination or classic oil painting.

My way of working could best be described as semi-traditional: while I really like to do my sketches, pencils and inks old-school with pen / brush on paper, I also enjoy the possibilities of digital colouring (American readers: imagine that “u” isn’t there, please). Of course, I also do completely traditional pieces, working in pencil, charcoal, red chalk, water colour, tempera and oil.
